Director
Angelo Licata and the entire staff are pleased to announce that Dark
Resurrection "Vol. 0" will be
presented at the preliminary
selections of the Cannes Film
Festival 2010.
The
Director says: “In
view of what has been achieved so far, thanks to the voluntary help of
all Artists and Associate Producers involved, the vast amount of work
and the tiny available budget, I feel that I can speak without false
modesty and with great enthusiasm when I say that the completed footage
of DR2 produced so far is nothing short of miraculous.
We very much want to already show something to those who are following
and supporting us. What better opportunity could there be than this,
especially as DR2's prologue, because of its self-contained story,
lends itself to being viewed independently from the rest of DR.
The work that we are now preparing to face is gargantuan. We rely on
your enthusiasm and support. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all those
from around the world who write to us and support us every
day.”

ADVANCED
POST PRODUCTION WORK
29 - 10
- 2009
While
post production have just turned
out the sixth finished minute of the Prologue to the film, the art
department continue to produce models and matte painting. Director
Angelo Licata says: "When we decided to produce Part II, knowing the
difficult path ahead, we wanted the result to be unique. We gained
technical and artistic knowledge during our three years of work on Part
I and understood where the major mistakes were made. My intention was
to produce a work which could compete with the big foreign productions.
To do so, even if on a small scale, we had to follow the required
steps. The first step, which comes right after the scriptwriting, is
the concept work. Tommaso
Ragnisco, in addition to making
the whole concept of DRII has also produced some props, all Biodroids
and all of the models used for the filming of backdrops. At the moment
he is personally finalising the painted backdrops for the next scene.
3D Technology gives us a great degree of realism, but nothing can
compare to a real model. I strongly insisted on this, knowing that with
Tommaso on the production of models we would have the added value which
was previously missing. Here
we present the Roman crew who are
doing so much towards the success of the film and some sneak previews
of the models.

Tommaso with Alessio Pieroni
of the IMA (who, free of charge,
created the 3D print of the model sculpted by Thomas) assisted by
Francis Payne in contact with the IMA on the DR project. Tommaso and
Daniele Crociani of PIX Movie Factory responsible for the visual
effects.
I would like to finish this by thanking all of the new Associated
Producers (link to production page) without whom, due to the cost of
materials, we would not have been able to do any of this.

DR
in Fausto Brizzi’s "Ex"
22 - 06

Fausto
Brizzi the
Director of Ex
(who plays the
role of Master Zistor in Dark Resurrection II) wanted to honour DR with
two references in his film:
First reference:
‘Dark Resurrection’ is
the name of the nightclub.
Second reference: on the wall inside the apartment is a poster of DR I.
Angelo Licata, Director
of ‘Dark Resurrection’, was on the set of
‘Ex’,
where he created the storyboard for the entire film and directed
‘The Making Of’: more than an hour of extras
enriching the
double disc and Blu-ray special editions.
‘The Making of Dark
Resurrection II’ is now online.
Dark
Resurrection vol II è
is in its post-production phase.
New clips and images will be online soon, awaiting the first trailer.

Filming of Prologue finished
24 - 03
- 2009
A few days ago, shooting on the
Prologue to Part 2 was
finalised. The ultimate shoot saw the return of Sorran in front of the
green screen and this time he was seen fighting with fury and
precision. In spite of the many challenges due to the expanded script
and the acrobatic combat scenes, Director Angelo Licata and Fight
Choreographer Maurizio Zuppa
are very satisfied with the result.
The storyboard,
created with a great eye for a shot by Alessandro Bragalini was very
useful. Some sequences described to Alessandro by the Director have
been improved during the design phase and literally replicated in the
shoot.
As the editing of these rushes is
being perfected,
post-production continues nonstop. Tommaso Ragnisco is creating scale
models of ships and sets, and thanks to collaboration with the IMA
it has been possible to make a framework of the wreck
‘Resurrection’ of nearly two meters long.
Meanwhile, Gianni
Melito, Riccardo Gallino and Daniele Crociani are carrying on with the
production of 3D models, matte paintings for backdrops and 3D and 2D
animations. At the moment it is difficult to confirm a release date for
Part II, but we are considering the possibility of showing the whole
prologue as done so far, a kind of Part 0, in order to further promote
the production and raise more funds as they are currently completely
run out due to the purchase of materials.
More news shortly..
DRis flying without fear!
- 18 - 12 - 2008
During
the second shoot for DR
2 our heroes are exploring the immense ruins of Eron when they are
attacked. They must use all their skills and powers in order to
survive. Elena
Cucci and Mattia Stancanelli were
the principal actors of this shoot.
Elena, who plays Nilah, was subjected to a tough training regime with Maurizio Zuppa,
who has prepared her for
multiple fight scenes using open hand as well as sword fighting
techniques. Mattia
Stancanelli, who plays
Thor, was trained in twin-sword fighting techniques by Ran Braun.
Much
more destructive thanks to
the use of two blades, Thor, together with Nilah, heroically holds out
for a long time against the creatures infesting the ruins. But without FWF
(Flying Without Fear),
a fundamental
element of the scene would have been missing: the acrobatic fighting
and stunt falls which can be seen in the accompanying photos. Daniele Balconi
and Fabio Branca
literally flew
(without wires) allowing for truly unique shots.
A
special mention goes to Mattia
Criscuolo,
who was flung
into the air in various ways without uttering a single complaint; all
this whilst wearing a spectacular but extremely uncomfortable suit
which allowed for limited breathing and vision. More news soon!
The first
shoot of Dark Resurrection 2 took place on 22, 23 and 24 November at
Maurizio Zuppa’s Centro CWK in Sanremo, which was transformed
into a green screen studio in September. Thanks to the valuable support
of all those who made donations, thus becoming Associate Producers, we
were able to start the project better resourced than DR1: including a
Panasonic HVX200e camera with two 16gb memory cards, which has enabled
HD shooting; improved green screen set (measuring 15 by 10 meters), and
a group of fantastic collaborators who have joined us from all over
Italy. Director Angelo Licata was joined by the renowned Director of
Photography Marcello Montarsi (L’Ultimo Bacio, Santa
Maradona,
Notte Prima Degli Esami, EX etc.), Camera Operators Andrea Pizzi
(Steadycam) and Roberto Pecchinino, and Assistant Directors Fabrizio
Rizzolo, Giulio Cuomo and Diego Marangon.
Among
the cast are several
exceptional performers: To play two of the Jedi Masters who support
Master Sorran in his search for ancient artefacts two famous Directors
arrived from Rome: Fausto Brizzi and Marco Martani. The two have
undergone intensive training with Fight Choreographers Ran Arthur Braun
and Maurizio Zuppa and the results have pleasantly surprised everyone.
Brizzi looks like a veteran warrior, his movements so aggressive they
frighten the stuntmen. Martani moves with elegance and precision, an
equal to athletes who have grown up sword in hand. Other performers,
the focus for forthcoming updates, are: Giuseppe Licata, Mario Mesiano,
Renzo Sinacori, Elena Cucci, Maria Tedei, Mattia Stancanelli, Andrea
Strangio, Matteo Arnaldi, Luca Garibaldi, Daniele Credidio, Luca
Zenari, Ilaria Crucil and Alberto Zanandrea.
The two Biodroids, seen in the photo, were made by Tommaso Ragnisco and
Francesco Fabiani. These amazing latex suits were worn by Raul Pusterla
and Eugenio Di Fraia of Ludosport. Given the very limited visibility
and the high temperature inside the suits, we can truly say the work of
these men was heroic, and the results miraculous. Special mention also
goes to Roberto Valli and Davide Ribolzi; creators of the hilts of the
laser swords.
To many this news update will seem like a list of names, but each
person mentioned, along with the many others who appear in the credits
below, has made a unique and valuable contribution. Angelo Giampietro,
the Chairman of Riviera Film, and Grazia Ogulin, Joint Proprietor of
Centro CWK, have put together a truly amazing green screen studio,
which houses the professional production team, from Hairdressers
(Flavio Di Martino and the girls from Flavio Hair Fashion) and Make-up
Artists (Anna Olivo, Emanuela Polidori, Vita Mazzoferro using Salon
Service products) to Costume Designers (sisters Carmen and Rosa Caci),
Photographers and Technicians, and Stuntmen of the highest level (FWF
Milan).
This
great organizational effort
has not been without its difficulties, and budgetary overspend caused
us to exhaust the funds initially available and forced us to
immediately re-finance the project on a much grander scale. But the
first step has been taken and Daniele Crociani (Pixmovie) and LOI are
already working on the very beautiful rushes (we have added some images
of this work). Please remember that this film is being made on a
not-for-profit basis and remains a creative experiment which draws
strength from the passion people have for this genre of film, a genre
which we hope will re-emerge in our country, because now we know:
Thanks to all of you and to all our other collaborators on these first
shoots: Diego Lupano, Paulo Valentini, Luca Stardero, Michele Sculco,
Simone Caridi, Riccardo Gallino, Andrea Arnaldi, Manuel Di Gregorio,
Simone Guerrucci, Giorgio Giordano, Daniele Balconi, Fabio Branca, Yari
Zuffi, Simone Spreafico, Valeria Ricciardi, Gianluca Longo, Lorenzo
Todaro and Clara Maccario, and especially to the first sponsors who
gave contributions, who are listed via the
‘Sponsor’ link
at the top of this page.

The Telethon Foundation
for Research on Muscular Dystrophy and Genetic Diseases have
accepted our charitable proposal. From today onwards, Dark Resurrection Part II
will serve not only
a cultural, but also a charitable purpose. Telethon will receive all
the funds we’ll manage to raise through donations and
sponsorships, minus production costs. In addition to this, donations to
Telethon can be made pre-and post production at all Dark Resurrection
events and screenings, and via an online link which will be added
shortly.
We
hope this
initiative from both the
Director and the Chairman of Riviera Film will add value to the work,
and also encourage motivation and commitment from our collaborators.
Therefore,
the Force
WILL be with us!

Dark
Resurrection Part I has won the ‘Best Fan
Film’ award at the Tri-City
Independent/Fan Film Festival 2008 in Pasco, Washington (USA).
The Director Angelo Licata,
recently returned from South
Africa where he finished working on the film 'Ex' by Director Fausto Brizzi,
is already preparing the first
scenes. Today was the first costume rehearsal with one of the actors
appearing in the prologue; the selfsame Fausto Brizzi.
The award-winning director felt very comfortable wearing
Zistor’s
clothes (costume made by STOKER
