Dark Resurrection Crew: Riccardo Gallino
1- How did you join the team of DR?
My experience in the universe of DR started as an extra in Volume 1: I had been chosen for the impressive scene of "Sorran's judgment" and I spent the whole summer creating my costume and lightsaber. In the Roman theater taking place in Ventimiglia, I met for the first time the director Angelo Licata. Moreover, I even met D. Bigazzi. I knew him only in a virtual way, following his work since the days of the Amiga computers. As I am an architectural designer, I have seen the whole architectural evolution of the computer graphics from its prehistory, and as I was already familiar with the LightWave 3D software, used for the production of DR, I said I was available for modelling any buildings for the creation of Vol.2, as the graphics of Vol.1 was almost over. After a few weeks, however, the director called and asked me to work directly on Vol.1 for scenes that were not initially planned but that thanks to my precious support could have been added. When Angelo told me "Sergio Muniz will fly on your ships" I thought he was joking, then I said: " I'd be happier if it was Anna Falchi." In the end Nina flew on them, and honestly I feel even more pleased about it.
2- Can you tell us your role within the production?
In addition to the different settings already created for Volume 1, I modelled a huge number of ships, including the impressive Super Star Destroyer Eclipse. For Volume 2, I worked on the external design, engineering and modelling of the Kirlander spaceship. After that, I even streamlined its interior parts. Moreover, I also modelled a few organic elements, such as the replicators and the altar inside the Resurrection, according to the indications both of the artistic direction and of the director himself, as well as different versions of the Resurrection for the pre-production.
